Sheriff asks all to refrain from attending church during stay-at-home order

Hoke Sheriff Hubert Peterkin posted a Facebook video asking citizens to refrain from even parking lot church services in order to comply with Gov. Roy Cooper’s stay-at-home order.

He suggested church leaders use video streams instead.

Saying his officers aren’t going out looking for violators, being out for unauthorized reasons could lead to other problems if people are otherwise stopped.

The sheriff says he has had numerous questions about way churches can still meet without endangering others.
