Slight chance of strong storms this afternoon

Home News Slight chance of strong storms this afternoon

The National Weather Service says some isolated strong storms are possible this afternoon as a cold front dips southward:
“Coverage should increase as the storms move south and begin to interact with the warmer and increasingly more moist surface airmass. Even still, coverage should only remain isolated to widely scattered. Primarily vertical wind shear and steep forecast low-level lapse rates should be efficient to support an isolate strong storm, capable of producing sub-severe hail and an isolated damaging downburst across the region, hence the marginal risk introduction by the SPC on the overnight Day 1 outlook. Thinking the best chance of this occurring will be along the US-1 corridor during the late afternoon hours. Flooding concerns remain low thanks to PWAT values remaining at or just below an inch, and relatively quick storm motions.”
