National Weather Service says sleep with weather warning system on
The National Weather Service says severe storms are possible as a cold front approaches North Carolina. Strong straight-line winds will be increasing overnight, heavy lightning is forecast, and even tornados are possible, some with longer tracks than usually seen in this area.

This is from the latest forecast discussion by NWS:
“The severe threat is looking increasingly alarming…. This environment will be highly conducive
for widespread thunderstorm wind damage, tornadoes and large hail across the area between 09Z(4am) to 16z(Noon)…”

"Current thinking is
that we will see wind gusts pick up as the moist-unstable warm sector becomes established across central NC, just ahead of a pre- frontal squall line. Additionally, given the magnitude of the winds just off the surface(60-70 kts at H9), even the weaker, low-topped convection will have the ability to produce wind gusts as high as 50 mph. As such, have issued a wind advisory for all of Central NC beginning at 4 am tonight through 4 pm Monday afternoon.”
In its latest Hazardous Weather Outlook, the NWS says
"Additionally, a line of thunderstorms will move east across the
forecast area late tonight into early Monday. The most intense storms will be capable of producing damaging wind gusts in excess of 60 or 70 mph, tornadoes and large hail. The time of greatest threat will be between 6 AM and 11 AM Monday morning.”
