Flood advisory for Hoke County

Most of Hoke County is under a flood advisory due to heavy rain this afternoon and evening. The National Weather Service in Raleigh issued the warning, which is in effect until 7:15 pm Friday. 


* At 411 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have
fallen.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Heavy rain
will reduce visibilities and result in ponding of water on roadways.
Slow down and use caution while driving to avoid hydroplaning.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses
as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
