Hoke County offers free COVID-19 testing, safety kits

Hoke County will give away free personal protective equipment (PPE) kits to the public this Saturday, and offer free COVID-19 testing.

“In efforts to prevent the community spread of COVID-19, Hoke County Commissioners, Hoke County Health Department and Hoke County Department of Social Services will be conducting a Community Initiative to assist the citizens of Hoke County by passing out personal protective kits to the residents,” a press release about the giveaway said.

The giveaway is set for Saturday, December 19 beginning at 9 a.m. It will be held at the Robert A. Wright Hoke County Agriculture Center, located at 645 East Palmer Road in Raeford.

Each kit will include supplies such as disposable gloves, face masks, hand sanitizer and alcohol wipes. Households can receive up to five kits. The giveaway will continue as long as supplies last.

The Health Department will provide free COVID-19 testing and flu shots that will be administered at the Hoke County Health Department located across the street from the agriculture center. Additionally, the Hoke County Department of Social Services will have a booth present to provide information on the following programs: Crisis Intervention Program (CIP), Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP), Food and Nutrition Services, and Medicaid.
