Hoke County Commission Chairman Harry Southerland and Commissioner James Leach announced tonight that they and a number of Hoke County health and safety employees have received the Moderna COVID-19 vaccination. Other county employees who fall in the first priority groups under the state’s revised vaccine distribution plan are on deck to receive it. It’s optional, not mandatory for county staff, officials said tonight at the board meeting.
Hoke’s front line health department staff and other essential folks such as housekeeping who handle cleaning/disinfecting county buildings are included in those health and safety staff receiving the vaccine. Note that this is the county health department, the hospitals are receiving and managing their own supplies of the vaccine for their staff.
