Drive-thru meals available for Hoke students

Hoke County Schools will continue to offer drive-thru meals for children through next week.

The school system is offering drive-thru meal pickup for children at any Hoke County school from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. The pickup dates include Thursday, February 11; Tuesday, February 16; and Thursday, February 18.

The meals are at no cost to families, and it does not matter which school children attend – meals can be picked up at whatever school location is most convenient for families. Parents, extended family members and even neighbors are welcome to pick up meals for convenience. Students at SandHoke Early College High School can receive their meals by going to one of the other locations, such as Hoke County High School.

The school system is also receiving assistance from more than two dozen local churches that are helping to deliver meals to children whose families do not have transportation.

The school system plans to reopen for the “Plan B” hybrid schedule for elementary through high school students beginning Monday, February 22. Students will attend in-person classes on a Monday and Wednesday, or a Tuesday and Thursday schedule, with at-home remote learning the other three days each week. The school system will continue taking precautions such as social distancing and frequent cleaning.

Families who do not want to send their child back to school for in-person learning can choose “Plan C,” remote learning only when classes resume February 22.

The county’s public schools have been remote learning only since returning from the Christmas break in January.
