Reward for information in 2019 murder

The state is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for killing a man in Raeford outside a gas station in 2019.

North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper announced Friday the reward of up to $5,000 in the murder of Justin L. Mix, who was severely assaulted September 18, 2019.

Officers with the Raeford Police Department responded that day to a reported assault behind the Sun Do gas station at 526 Aberdeen Road in Raeford. They found Mix unresponsive and suffering from injuries that indicated someone had beaten him.

Emergency medical services transported Mix to a local hospital, where doctors determined he had suffered severe head trauma. He was listed in critical condition. Mix passed away due to his injuries October 27, 2019.

Anyone with information concerning this case should contact the Raeford Police Department at (910) 875-4251 or the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation at (919) 662-4500.
