A man was fatally shot during an altercation last week, but no charges have been filed and the investigation is ongoing, according to the Hoke County Sheriff’s Office.
Paul McLeod, 42, was shot in an altercation. Authorities were still waiting on the results of an autopsy and further information from the investigation, Capt. Steven Blakley of the Hoke County Sheriff’s Office said. As of Monday the sheriff’s office had not made any arrests or filed charges in the case.
Hoke County Sheriff Dr. Hubert Peterkin said deputies were working closely with the District Attorney’s office on the case.
“There is definitely a reason why we haven’t made an arrest yet,” Peterkin said Monday.
The shooting happened Friday, July 9 at a home on the 500 block of McLeod Road in the Quewhiffle township area of Hoke County.
Deputies are looking into the circumstances surrounding the shooting and what exactly happened, authorities said. Peterkin said they planned to make an announcement about the case once that investigation concludes.
