Hoke County Department of Social Services Director Terry Stanton and his family lost their home in a house fire last week, and are gratefully accepting donations to help them get back on their feet.
“We lost everything, but we have been getting donations for clothes and people have been giving us financial donations to buy what we need,” Stanton said Tuesday.
The fire happened at the Stantons’ home in Scotland County last Wednesday. Stanton’s daughter was home at the time, but managed to escape safely, and no one was injured. The house was a loss, and the family is receiving support from the Red Cross.
Donations of any type are appreciated, Stanton said. They have sufficient clothing at the moment thanks to donations, and their most needed items right now include toiletries and personal care products, and household goods like towels and dishcloths. The family includes two adults and two children.
Monetary donations can be made to Mrs. Stanton’s Cashapp, $whs0928.
To speak with the family to arrange a donation drop-off, contact Stanton at (910) 286-6174.
