A woman from Fayetteville was killed Christmas Eve in a two-vehicle accident on Aberdeen Road just outside Raeford.
Yvette Marie Allen, 61, of Fayetteville was killed in a head-on crash, according to information from the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
The accident happened around 2:14 p.m. Friday, December 24 on N.C. 211 near Sheppard Lane in Hoke County.
Allen was driving a passenger car, and apparently drove left of center across the double yellow lines, and struck another vehicle head-on, a Highway Patrol Trooper said. The name of the other driver was not immediately available.
Allen was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The other driver, a woman, was reportedly injured but survived. She was taken to an area hospital for treatment of her injuries.
Speed was not believed to be a factor in the accident. Both drivers were wearing seat belts. Alcohol is also not believed to be a factor in the accident, according to the Highway Patrol.
