Juneteenth celebrations coming up

Several community organizations will hold events this month to celebrate the Juneteenth holiday.

Community Outreach Advocates will host a cookout to mark Bucktown Juneteenth Sunday, June 19 at Robbin Heights Park. The event will feature live music, giveaways, food and drinks, and fun games. The event will run from 4 p.m.-until. The park is located at East Seventh Avenue in Raeford. For more information, visit Bucktown Juneteenth Cookout on Facebook.

Mount Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church will hold a Juneteenth Festival Saturday, June 18. The second annual event will run from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the church’s community resource center, located at 373 Pittman Grove Church Road. The festival will include Black art exhibits, historical perspectives, a Black history museum, live portrayals and family fun. There will be vendors, food trucks, music, a freedom march, historical artifacts and more.
