Sex offender sentenced to 75-105 years in prison

A registered sex offender was found guilty last week of sexual crimes against a child, and sentenced to 75-105 years in prison.

Investigators with the Hoke County Sheriff’s Office arrested Raheem Davis in August 2022 on three counts of statutory rape of a child by an adult, and three counts of indecent liberties with a child. At the time of his arrest, Davis was 33 years old and a registered sex offender. He was previously convicted of a sex crime in Robeson County, according to the Hoke County District Attorney’s office.

Authorities took Davis into custody August 17, 2022. A magistrate issued Davis a $1 million secured bond.

Assistant District Attorneys Mary Lawrence Ellis and Joanna Matheny represented the State earlier this month in the prosecution. The jury found Davis guilty on all six counts. He was sentenced to three consecutive active sentences of 300-420 months, totaling 75-105 years in the Department of Adult Corrections.

The Hoke County District Attorney’s Office thanked the Hoke County Sheriff’s Office and the Raeford Police Department for their diligent work in the case, and also thanked the citizens of Hoke County who participated as jurors in the process.
