School Resource Officer struck by vehicle

A Hoke County School Resource Officer was hit by a vehicle Wednesday morning while directing traffic at Sandy Grove Elementary School.

The officer was expected to make a full recovery, according to the Hoke County Sheriff’s Office.

The law enforcement agency released the following statement:

“Our thoughts and prayers are with one of our own officers today. One of our School Resource Officers was struck by a vehicle while directing school traffic at Sandy Grove Elementary. We thank all that stopped to assist our officer in the time of need we greatly appreciate our community. The officer involved is expected to make a full recovery. This is a reminder to slow down in school zones during school hours, be observant to caution lights, blue lights, and pedestrians.”
