The News-Journal has been covering the news and issues of Hoke County since 1905 (you could make a case we’ve been here since 1896!) We’re in Raeford, N.C., in Hoke County. The News-Journal is published weekly by Brown Publishing LLC.

We work to provide responsible, credible coverage of the county. Our Editor, Catharin Shepard (cshepard@thenews-journal.com) has a master’s in journalism from the University of Georgia and 15 years of experience.

The rest of our small staff—Robin (graphics), Sue (sales), and Scott (sports writer) have decades of experience in their fields. Together, we’ve won dozens of news awards in recent years. All of our work is in Hoke County.
