SandHoke Early College High School will confer high school diplomas on 89 Class of 2020 graduates May 22. Graduation, which will be held at 11 a.m., is not a traditional commencement ceremony this year. Graduates will receive their high school diplomas during the drive-thru graduation ceremony on the SandHoke campus.
The ceremony will include the traditional Pomp and Circumstance, the National Anthem, invocation, welcome, words to graduates, memory lane, song, conferring of diploma, graduate farewell, and turning of the tassel.
SandHoke graduates will be welcomed by staff and a personalized garden flag when entering the campus. Graduates will also be celebrated in a video of each graduate processing and turning their tassel, which will go live on the SandHoke Facebook page at 9 a.m. on Friday. The SandHoke Class of 2020 will also be recognized on an illuminated digital billboard in the Hoke County skyline across from the Stonegate Village Shopping Center. The billboard is located on U.S. 401 South travelling from Fayetteville to Raeford. The billboard will congratulate graduates from May 22 to June 18.
Graduates will receive a portfolio showcasing their diploma, transcript, resume and cover letter. A personalized letter of congratulations from North Carolina House of Representative Garland Pierce is also enclosed in their portfolio.
Graduates receiving summa cum laude honors distinction of a 4.0-plus weighted GPA are Madison Alexander, Aniya Bell, Teilah Campos, Anahi Ciriaco Sanchez, Tarona Commodore, Madison Cummings, Elyssa Daniels, Meoshi Dargan, Aramis Davila, Rosina Eatmon, Caetlyn Elder, Noemi Fuentes-Rivera, Kerian Hale, Olivia Hess, Kristina Howell, Maria Kulik, Liz Melendez Marrero, Angie Pervier, Caleb Turner, Aaliyah Wade and Amanda Xiao. Graduating with magna cum laude honors distinction of 3.80 – 3.99 weighted GPA are Patrik Johnson, Donald Luckett, Jessica Norton, Adam Shorter, Hannah Squier and Chase Vettel. Graduates receiving the cum laude honors distinction of a 3.50 – 3.79 weighted GPA are Zoe Beshilas, Merrick Cook, Vianey Eumana-Garcia, Nathaniel Hernandez, Haleigh Line, Sarah Locklear, Michael Perez Santiago, Ian Robinson, Lindsey Ross, Jonathan Schwartzbeck, Alexandria Sexton, Emiliano Tosic, Breanna Walker and Rayael Wilson.
Graduates are also recognized for a greater than 3.0 unweighted GPA. SandHoke graduates are well prepared upon graduation as they enter universities, colleges, military and the workforce, say school officials. Graduates have received $1,187,188 in scholarship money to further their education at Appalachian State University, Campbell University, East Carolina University, Fayetteville State University, Georgia Southern University, Greensboro College, Livingstone College, North Carolina State University, North Carolina Central University, Sandhills Community College, Savannah College of Art and Design, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, University of North Carolina at Charlotte, University of North Carolina at Pembroke, Wingate University, and Winston-Salem State University.
