A man who lived in Raeford was killed last week when his motorcycle crashed in Fayetteville.
David Hughes Jr., 31, of Barrow Court in Raeford was killed in the single vehicle accident, according to Fayetteville law enforcement reports.
Fayetteville Police Department officers were dispatched around 11:30 p.m. Friday to a single vehicle motorcycle accident on Raeford Road.
Hughes was driving a 2015 BMW motorcycle when he apparently ran off the road and hit a utility pole, according to police reports. He was thrown from the motorcycle. Emergency responders on the scene pronounced him dead.
The accident closed two lanes of Raeford Road while the Fayetteville Police Department’s Traffic Unit investigated the wreck.
A memorial page for Hughes said that he was born in Santa Clara, California, and that burial arrangements will be made for him to be buried in Fresno, California. A Facebook post from Hughes’ wife, Julie Hughes, announced plans for loved ones to visit the site of the accident to release balloons, pray and remember him.
