Teen suspect charged in double shooting

Investigators with the Hoke County Sheriff’s Office have charged a teenager wanted in connection with a shooting that injured two people last month.

Deputies in Robeson County arrested Enrique Angeles-Chavis, 18, on two counts of attempted first-degree murder.

Angeles-Chavis was charged in the shooting of Vester Emanuel IV, 30, and Ray McBryde, 48, on December 28 at the intersection of Blue Road and Tracie Lane. Deputies responded to the scene of the shooting. The officers located the two victims at the 2300 block of Blue Springs Road and found them suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency medical services transported both shooting victims to an area hospital.

During the course of the investigation, detectives identified Angeles-Chavis as a suspect in the case and obtained a warrant for his arrest. Angeles-Chavis was taken into custody at the Robeson County Courthouse January 25 without incident. Deputies transported him back to Hoke County.


Angeles-Chavis received a $2 million secured bond. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
