Sheriff’s office seeking info in armed robbery

A person was held at gunpoint during a recent armed robbery behind Stonegate shopping center, according to the Hoke County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office is now seeking help from the public in identifying the person or persons involved with the crime.

Deputies with the sheriff’s office responded around 1 a.m. March 20 to a call about an armed robbery behind the Dollar City gaming business in the area of Flagstone Lane.

“The investigation revealed that the victim who is an employee of the business arrived and parked behind the business. After the victim opened the door, the suspect exited a vehicle that was parked at the dead end of the road behind the businesses. The suspect approached the victim and was armed with a handgun and demanded money from the victim,” Hoke Sheriff Hubert Peterkin shared.

The robber escaped with the victim’s property.

The sheriff’s office issued a description of one person wanted in connection with the armed robbery: described as a Black man in his early 20s, approximately 5’7” tall and weighing about 135 pounds. He was wearing all black with a grey face mask. The vehicle involved is a possible blue four-door sedan of unknown make or model.
