Purcell Funeral Home will hold its first annual Community Fun Day event Saturday, June 26 in Laurinburg, and will set up scholarships in his name.
The Community Fun Day is to honor his life and legacy.
“We are sponsoring this event to promote our appreciation to the community for their continued support as well as introduce the Barbara and Kenneth Purcell Educational Foundation established by his beloved widow and business partner, Barbara, and his family,” an announcement about the event said.
The event is set for 11 a.m.-5 p.m. at Purcell Funeral Home’s grounds, located at 301 North King Street in Laurinburg.
“The Barbara and Kenneth Purcell Education Foundation is to commemorate their diverse endeavors and services throughout various counties. It grants any qualifying community resident additional financial support needed to achieve a higher education.”
People studying in the concentrated areas of Mortuary Science, Entrepreneurship, Culinary Arts, Insurance or Medical Certifications and/or degrees are welcome to apply.
