An accident Saturday night on NC 211 near Ashley Heights sent two drivers and their passengers to a hospital. A third driver wasn’t seriously injured when the engine block from the passing car struck her vehicle.

N.C. Highway Patrol Trooper Hazelwood said the accident happened just before 10 p.m. when a car driven by Nygee Bascha of Hope Mills allegedly tried to pass another, and struck a car nearly head-on. It was driven by Gabriel Jaggi of Southern Pines. A third car, driven by Kylie Mossman of Fort Bragg was hit by the engine block that separated from Bascha’s car.

Bascha was charged with improper passing and exceeding the posted speed limit, Hazelwood said.
