A man from Fayetteville died last week and several passengers in the car with him were injured in an early morning accident in Hoke County.

James Lamont Bazemore, 47, of Fayetteville was killed in the single-vehicle wreck on Arabia Road, according to a North Carolina Highway Patrol report.

The accident happened around 3:30 in the morning Friday, December 17. Bazemore was driving a 2020 Hyundai four-door passenger car with Michael Ladson, Mujahid Mateen and Reginald Jones, all of Fayetteville, riding in the car as passengers.


The driver appeared to have failed to stop for a stop sign, the report by Trooper J. Basurto said. The vehicle left the roadway, struck a ditch and then hit a tree. The car came to rest in the ditch.

Bazemore was killed in the accident, and the passengers suffered non life-threatening injuries, authorities said.

Alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the accident, according to the Highway Patrol report.

Obituary information for the victim was not immediately available.
