Fall Festival kicks off with Turkey Bowl, golf

The North Carolina Fall Festival returns this week with its kickoff events, the Turkey Bowl football game and the Second Annual Marvin Johnson Memorial Golf Tournament.

Friday night is Hoke High’s Homecoming when the Bucks will take on the Southern Lee Cavaliers from Sanford, Lee County in a battle for the Turkey Bowl trophy. The All Veteran parachute team will jump in before the start of the game.

The Second Annual Marvin Johnson Memorial Golf Tournament is set for Saturday, October 8 and Sunday, October 9. This year the tournament is coming back to Hoke County and will be held at the Bayonet at Puppy Creek golf course.

This year also celebrates the return of two fan favorite N.C. Fall Festival events that were postponed: the parade on Main Street, and the turkey dinner held at West Hoke Middle School.

The parade will be next Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and will pass along Main Street. Tickets are available for the turkey dinner for $10, dine in and take out options are available.  Tickets are available at the Fall Festival office in the Chamber of Commerce building on Main Street in downtown Raeford.

The festival will span a week and a half with its upcoming events. See the special N.C. Fall Festival publication inside this week’s issue of The News-Journal for information on events, dates, times and the entertainment schedule.
